Cary has quickly grown into the seventh largest municipality of North Carolina. Cary reaches into Chatham County, but is primarily located in Wake County where it stands as the second largest municipality in that county. The 2010 census recorded the town's population at 135,234, which was an increase of 43.1% from 2000. This steady growth has led U.S. Census Bureau estimates to gauge the town's 2015 population to approach 160,00.
